OACny is seeking 2-3 volunteers to help complete the design and construction of a rear yard garden at Westside Cluster House, a supportive housing residence run by Urban Pathways to help formerly homeless adults attain their personal goals and achieve independent living. Key design parameters have been set following a schematic design phase and feedback from Urban Pathways leadership and residents. Volunteers would be responsible for developing the final design for a multi-use outdoor space.
Volunteers should have an interest in design-build, communal outdoor space, and accessibility. This is an opportunity to design and construct a lasting resource that will benefit the residents and staff at Westside Cluster House for years to come.
Building upon previous design proposals and feedback, the design team will focus on the next
three phases of the project in the following timeline.
Design Development (Fall 2019)
Construction Documents (Winter 2019)
Construction (Spring 2020)
Preferable experience includes:
Experience in construction documents.
Experience in design-build and/or constructability.
Experience in planting design and outdoor elements
Strong organizational skills and works well in a team.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp. Familiarity w/ Photoshop and other 3D modeling software a plus.
