Open Architecture/New York is requesting applications for a Project Coordinator to steer a community visioning process with East New York Restoration Local Development Corporation (LDC). The LDC works closely with the tenant association at NYCHA Pink Houses in East New York, where public spaces are bare and have a lack of amenities. This project will identify the needs of the residents and develop a feasible vision for funding and coordination with NYCHA and local elected officials. The primary goal is to improve access to physical activity.
The Project Coordinator is a volunteer position that will work closely with the OACNY board and representatives of the LDC and tenant association. The project will involve gathering community feedback through workshops and other engagement methods. A feasibility study based on community inputs will then be developed as final deliverable.
Work with the Director of Projects and LDC on providing project specific goals and updates;
Organize workshops and other informal community engagement process;
Develop feasibility drawings and written documents;
Manage a small team of volunteers;
Ensure that the project meets the mission and standards of OACNY throughout the duration of the project.
Experience in public involvement and visioning process;
Knowledge of outdoor design such as playground, park, and courtyard;
Coordination experience with NYCHA, government agencies, and/or elected officials;
Familiarity with NYC codes and regulations;
Abilities to lead and manage a team;
Skills in Adobe Suite, drafting and modeling programs (AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup, etc).
